I've given up on the lsi cards. (MR10i).

I *was* able to get all the prompts to be visible by re-downloading and forcing a re-install of all the x3650M2 firmwares.

I *was* able to designate a global hot spare drive (slot #12).

I was *NOT* able to make the global hot spare drive "kick in" when I simulated a drive failure (pulled the drive in slot # 8).

I've ordered the Adaptec 51245 and will share the results after installation & test.

Hi,
We have just purchased a new X3650 M2 with a M5015 Raid controller. Do I remove the BR10i and replace it with the M5015 or use the other slot? I ask as I notice the two leads that are connected to the BR10i are fine but the M5015 does not have these ports so do you leave them unconnected?
Thanks.

I'd just like to reiterate that I only have a copy of the English version of Office 2007.

I have had many requests for the image I've uploaded, I just hope the download site keeps working.

Hi, it seems that Microsoft have started doing their usual trick again.

As stated in an earlier post, please contact me if you require a copy of the Office 2007 SBE/Pro Trial CD (English version).

The download is ONLY for the media (that would normally be available from the download site) and DOESN'T include any MLK keys.

I've already had a couple of requests, and hopefully helped some people.

Regards

I went to http://trial.trymicrosoftoffice.com/msft-orpc/registration.aspx as instucted on the MS OFFICE key and I get the message below. The key is valid and the card specifically says the media MUST be downloaded! Leave it to Micros**t to do this crap. Now I either need to find someone with a disk, download a torrent or find a non-MS link to get the media. I see I am not alone in this mess, but it should nor be this way.

We are sorry, but we are unable to complete your request. The following problem(s) exist:

The product key you’ve entered does not appear to be a valid key for this program. This program is only for Medialess license kits – not standard retail products.
The product could not be found.

I too am having a lot of grief with this. A customers hd failed and they had no backups done (doh). I have an MLK Small Business 2007 product key and have gone to http://www.microsoft.com/office/backup, as suggested both on the back of the license card iteself and the paper wallet it came in.
It will not allow me to dl the software. I get the following messages:

This is frustrating, as I am clearly following the link in the literature, yet it seems to be telling me I have a standard retail product when obviously I do not.

I am not willing to purchase a £100+ OPK kit for a one-off job. Why are MS stopping lawfully licensed customers from obtaining downloadable backup copies of their software?

Hi Peter,

IBM's RSA II (or it's successor, the IMM) do not support Ethernet Port sharing (which, even if supported, would still require a second IP address).

My Dell Server (R210) with DRAC Express supports Ethernet Port Sharing, which works automatically, no configuration required, but you still need a second IP address.

Hi,

it seems that you have some experience with the RSA II cards. I would like to manage my server remotely using the RSA II via HTTP/SSH. I am trying to find out for some time now, if it's possible to use the RSA II to access the server and the remote management console through the same network adapter, so only one IP address and one rj45 cable is used for connecting the server to network. The remote management services could be set up to run on higher (unused) ports and the server services running on regular ports. Is this possible or do I need two separate cables and connections?

Thank you for your help.

Hi Paul,

I have no idea if Acronis TrueImage can even move ESXi installations, but my approach would be to disconnect all the disks in the machine, insert a USB stick, install ESXi on the USB stick, attach the disks, boot ESXi from the USB stick, resignature the disks and you should be up and running again.

Hi Lukas,

we weren't successful restoring an Acronis TrueImage image of our ESXi 4.0 (to the same hardware it was taken from). The machine just says "boot error".
Have you got any experience or hint in that matter?

Thanks,
Paul

Has anyone tried using an Adaptec RAID 51245 - storage controller (RAID) - SATA-300 / SAS - PCI Express Mfg. Part: 2258400-R in a 3560 M2???

I'm to the point of trying this combination and throwing out the LSI (MR10i) card.

Thanks,

Hi Jack,

IIS is nice, but a completely different beast. I'm lucky that Wordpress is quite well supported on IIS, and it didn't take me long to get my blog ported over to WS08R2.

That said, i didn't do this for any specific business reason (it's my private blog, after all), i just thought the experience with IIS could be valuable. And i had an NFR version of WS08R2 Web Edition from a Microsoft conference, so that seemed like a good fit.

Linux software RAID is much nicer than Windows, but 8 year old IDE controllers don't react that nicely to broken disk drives. I've had better experiences with Linux SW RAID on newer AHCI SATA controllers from Intel - even hotplug worked.

That was fortunate Lukas. When our linux raid died our hosting company told us the second disk hadn't been updated for 2 months and they didn't notice. Fortunately the back up tapes worked otherwise we'd have been in trouble.

I'm hearing good things about the latest version of IIS. How does it stack up against Apache which we're currently using.

There is a workaround. If you remove the externalURL for ActiveSync, mobile devices will then work by proxy instead of redirection.
