With 2 DSM modules on a bladecenter S and with 8 or more (even amounts) disks, what would the recommended and safe disk configuration be?
I'm considering the following configs:
Raid 5 - but when 1 DSM fails, the raid is gone ... or not?
Raid 10 - when 1 DSM fails, the raid is not gone - but this requires manual config through SCM (shouldn't be a problem) and decreases the available amount of disk space by 40%

Would using raid 5 be a possibility and copying/backing up the VM's stored on the raid be a solution (what would the frequency then need to be of that backup?)

The BladeCenter S will run on 110 Volt Power. You can order this feature code 6535 and then plug the chassis into a NEMA 5-15P. ( same as is used in 99.9% of US homes)
