Back in 1999 I started with a 256/256 kBit cable Modem from ZIK-Suhr, the local cable TV provider. In 2001 I moved to ADSL from Tiscali, because the ZIK-Suhr was really an awful provider. Tiscali was slightly better, but still not that good, so I moved in 2002 to Init7. Init7 was back then a year old and new on the market. I'm still using ADSL from them and I was thinking about to move to VDSL, but to be honest, I don't know how the infrastructure here is. The house is 30 years old and I don't know if it's good enough for VDSL. You can get 20 MBit with VDSL, but it has only 1 MBit upload.
