In order to use the "Recover Deleted Items" outside of the Deleted Items folder you have to enabled the feature in the Registry. Take a look here: http://www.groovypost.com/howto/microsoft/outlook/recover-deleted-email-in-microsoft-outlook-from-any-folder/

Just finished explaining it in detail.

This function must be anabled on the Exchange Server and not on the Client side. We currently also use Outlook 2000 and there it works fine.

I think they are afraid of changes once something is running more or less smoothly... They started upgrading the mobile computers to the new Office version, but all desktops have to mess around with the old sh*t.

Oh great, I didn't know you can immediately delete items by holding down shift. Thanks for that hint.

But I just noticed that in Outlook 2000 (what we still have to use at our office... unfortunately) it is only possible to use the "Recover deleted items..." option when you have not selected the recycle bin.
